“Austrian sports and gambling/sports betting operators have always been important economic partners, which is why we would like to support them even in this difficult situation. A long-term possibility to earn more money for sports is the introduction of a modern online gambling license system. Through additional taxes and license fees, EUR 30 to 50 million can be earned in such a license system and earmarked for Austrian sports. This would help Austrian sports in the long run – in addition to the existing sports funding (Sportförderung) and sponsoring – without further burdening the national budget already strained due to COVID-19”, so Mag.
